Since 1995, Kids Kottage Foundation has offered crisis prevention and early intervention services in Edmonton and area providing safety for infants and children while supporting the resilience of families. When families face overwhelming stress due to circumstances like job loss, homelessness, the impacts of poverty, mental or physical health challenges, abuse, or other difficult situations, children often become unseen victims.

Kids Kottage operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year ensuring children’s basic needs are met, and connecting their caregivers with the resources they need.

Three main programs form the core of Kids Kottage Foundation services including:

  • 24-hour crisis line

  • Overnight temporary care for children ages 0-10 years old

  • Family crisis support for caregivers in need

The Kottage fills the gap in a family’s support system. We care for the children while adults are connected to the resources they need to strengthen their capacity and prevent the family from falling further into crisis.

Kids Kottage:

  • Kids Kottage has been in operation since 1995.

  • Our Sunbeam Kottage has capacity for 12 beds dedicated to overnight safe shelter and care for children ages 0-10 years old.

  • The 'crisis nursery' operating model is the only one of its kind in Edmonton and area.

  • We serve the most young and vulnerable - 39% of the children we shelter are 0-3 years old.

  • With only 12 beds, our board and leadership are actively working on a roadmap for growth.
