Kids Kottage is the only crisis nursery in the Edmonton region providing a place for children to stay up to 72 hours free of charge when their families are experiencing crisis situations such as domestic violence, homelessness, food insecurity or physical/mental health issues. While the children remain safe and secure at the Kottage their parents/caregivers take the steps to make their home safe and nurturing again.
Kids Kottage also cares for children who are placed at the crisis nursery by Children’s Services when they need a safe place to be.
Families with children up to the age of 11 who are experiencing a crisis can access our services on a first come first served basis.
We have a 24-hour crisis line, while providing overnight childcare (up to 72 hours), follow-up support, and referrals to community services.

No, our services are free of charge, thanks to a Government of Alberta contract and community support in the form of donations from individuals, businesses and corporations.
Our goal is safe children and strong families. We provide families with help before disaster or tragedy happens. We support parents/caregivers to make home safe and nurturing again so that children return to a safe home in the care of their parents/caregivers, making Children’s Services involvement unnecessary.
You can donate, volunteer, or spread the word about our services. Every contribution helps us support vulnerable families in need.
Absolutely! Our specially trained staff and volunteers are dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing space for children.
Our intake team assesses each family's crisis and creates a personalized plan. If need be, children will be accepted into the crisis nursery, and all necessary information is gathered to ensure all children’s needs are met while they stay at the Kottage.

Yes! Our Follow-Up Worker provides every family with ongoing support and referrals to appropriate community resources during the crisis as well as after their crisis has been resolved.
Every family’s circumstances are different, therefore our follow-up support is here for as long as they need us.
Yes, but we strongly encourage families to accept follow-up support. History shows that families that accept follow-up support have the most successful outcomes and require fewer repeat admissions.
